Dear Phat Chants,
Thank you for making my birthday party so special. The music was great – we ALL danced! I knew the words to most of the songs and was singing with you guys. I also noticed that my friend, Doreen, was welcomed when she played her air guitar with you….Too much fun was had by all. Thank you, thank you.

Jim,
Thank you again for making my husband’s “60th” so wonderful with your music. We had such a good time dancing to you and the band!

The band Phat Chants produced an atmosphere at our wedding which exceeded the expectations of all of those in attendance and made our celebration a truly unforgettable experience. Jim Davis, the band leader, is a very experienced professional who was courteous, punctual and self-sufficient. Phat Chants sounded great and the variety of music that they are able to play is sure to appeal to just about any audience or event. I would recommend them to anybody who is looking for performers that will ensure your guests have an amazing experience.
Searching for a live band can be a daunting task. After talking to numerous people, it was refreshing to finally come across a group like Phat Chants. Jim was very polite on the phone. He promptly returned my calls, answered all of my questions and provided us with the additional information that we needed in order to ensure a successful performance. They set up quickly and were ready to begin playing after being provided with no more than a stage and an electrical outlet. Planning a wedding can be a very stressful task and it was great to know that we didn’t have to worry about Phat Chants.
The band played with outstanding sound quality during our dinner and reception. They unexpectedly offered to play a softer, mellow mix of songs for dinner, which proved to be a much better alternative than the “cocktail music” satellite radio station that we were planning on listening to. Phat Chants kicked off the reception with a special song that they had learned for our first dance – another impressive offering from this band that you might not find elsewhere. Throughout the rest of the night, they continued to play many excellent songs from their playlist while taking requests and even offering a tremendous drum solo!
Overall, I would highly recommend Phat Chants. You will not be disappointed because they are independent, sound great and play an amazing variety of music. Jim Davis and his band were an amazing addition to our celebration – in fact, many of us think that they “made” our reception. I cannot thank the Phat Chants band enough for their remarkable performance at our wedding reception!

2007 New Year’s Eve Testimonial
Phat Chants made our New Year’s Eve party memorable. They were professional in all ways, from interview to set-up to musical preparation. It is not often that a band can inspire everyone to dance, even so-called non-dancers! Their rapport with our guests, their choice of songs, and their entertaining banter put everyone at ease. Good music is key to a good party and Phat Chants delivered. We could not have been more pleased.
Sincerely,
Maia Madden

Dear Music Lover,
I am writing to you so that I may make a strong recommendation for hiring the talented band, Phat Chants.
I had the pleasure of working with Jim Davis and his group for a large New Year’s Eve party on Dec 31st, 2006. In addition to providing a wide array of music styles, and playing them all to perfection, the professionalism of this band was impressive. They were on time, in synch, and lookin’ good, too! The party was a success because of their ability to keep the groove goin’ and mix up the rhythms, tempos and energy.
The next time I have another party or event that requires excellent music, I will be hiring Phat Chants for certain!
Respectfully submitted,

We first heard Phat Chants play at Michael’s on Main. They were so much fun, (I immediately connected with them, the music they played, the style etc.) I dropped a card requesting they call me.
Every year we host a New Year’s Eve Party for 100-120 people in our home and I asked Phat Chants to play NYE 2005. I had had other bands play before, but everyone just loved them. The music choices were great (especially for our age group 40-60). Our affair was black tie. They dressed for the event, were very professional in the way they set up and interacted with me and the other guests. We have never had so many guests involved, dancing, singing and just generally having a great time as we did that year.
We also got married last year and asked them back to play at our reception in November 2006. Once again everything went smoothly and a wonderful time was had by all. They are consummate entertainers.
A friend of ours hosted the New Years Eve party for us in 06, but on the recommendation of the group, also hired Phat Chants as the band of choice, and once again, they were sensational.
I highly recommend them as a professional, entertaining, polished and just plain fun band who is flexible and just great at what they do.
I would be glad to provide a reference as needed.
Best Regards,
Valerie Lee

Speaking of Santa Cruz bands, which seem to be playing more and more in this area, the classic rock band PHAT CHANTS plays Moss Landing Inn Friday night.
This is a band that has developed fans here by playing venues like Britannia Arms and Bullwackers with a song list that includes rock originals and covers of songs by the Stones, Beatles, Doors, Eric Clapton, Santana and Dire Straits.

PHAT CHANTS
No, they are not hip-hop buddhists. PHAT CHANTS plays good old rock 'n' roll with a big British sound. Think Beatles, Stones, Van Morrison. The group also has a host of originals, soon to be released on CD.
